Statistical Capacity Building (SCB)
The FAO Statistics Division has a well established Household Survey Programme providing statistical training to countries in the collection, processing and analysis of food consumption and income data in their regular national household survey (NHS) programme. The main objectives of this programme are:

The training activities currently available under the SCB are:
  1. International Demonstration Centre (IDC). The IDC is a full time one-month tutorial training at FAO headquarters in Rome on food security and consumption statistics. IDC sessions are held between February and November each year. (click here)
  2. National Demonstration Centre (NDC). The NDC is a three-month training on food security and consumption statistics with around 10 participating countries. It includes country back stopping support and a one-week training workshop in a regional activity. (click here)
  3. Technical Cooperation (TC). The training activity under the TC is usually within the framework of an in-country project whereby the nationals are accompanied with on-the job training for strengthening the statistical analysis and use food security indicators based on food consumption and income data.
