    assessment and mapping by providing resources to the Global Information and Early Warning System (GIEWS) for developing components of the GIEWS Workstation, the overall development of which has been funded by the European Commission. The GIEWS Workstation development is of particular relevance to FIVIMS, namely that the Workstation is being made available at the country level for use by national institutions for purposes of food security monitoring, analysis and early warning.

    Handbook for Defining and Setting up a Food Security Information and Early Warning System (FSIEWS)
    The aim of this handbook is to describe the FSIEWS (Food Security and Early Warning Information System) method for the benefit of the community of governmental and non-governmental actors engaged in the fight against hunger.
    FAOs Global Information and Early Warning System has undertaken periodic reviews of its methodology for Crop and Food Supply Assessment Missions (CFSAMs).
